ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Michelle Kiernan

Hi, I’m Michelle. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this difficult time, but please know that you’re not alone - I’m here to support you in any way I can.

As a funeral celebrant based in Victoria, my role is dedicated to caring for, listening to, and working alongside families, in planning a farewell that is fitting for their loved one - capturing the essence of who they were, the qualities they embodied, and the life they have lived.

A beautifully crafted farewell service can make all the difference to those left behind, allowing family and friends to come together, share memories and each other’s company, in whatever way feels right to you. This may also involve finding a venue that is not typically known for holding funerals or memorials - for a beach lover it could be a yacht club, a lover of food and wine perhaps a winery, for a nature lover, an area where they frequented and enjoyed spending time.

This can all be very overwhelming whilst also grieving your loss, and I’m here to guide and support you with care, kindness and compassion. With over 13 years of experience, I can provide options, choices, and guidance, in how you’d like the farewell to unfold; help in writing a eulogy or personal tributes, or just being that person in your corner supporting you every step of the way.

I work closely with my families to ensure every farewell feels personal and meaningful. Whether you’re planning a funeral, a memorial, a life celebration - big or small - I’d love to be able to help you create a ceremony that truly reflects your loved one.

If you need a helping hand, please reach out anytime.

“I opened the door and waited for grief to leave, but there he remained on my couch making himself at home” ~ Christian Bosse

A funeral service conducted with competence, care and compassion, pays tribute to a loved one by honouring and remembering them and reflects on the life they have lived. It is a safe place for family and friends to gather, to express their sadness and grieve their loss. Presenting a funeral ceremony that is heartfelt and sincere can make all the difference to the lives of those family and friends who are left behind.

    Memorial or Funeral?

A funeral is a ceremony held with the body present, often before burial or cremation.

A memorial is a service held without the body present. It can take place anytime after a person has died and is more flexible in its format.

More and more people are choosing to hold a memorial at a time and location that suits them, allowing the creation of a personalised farewell that is not only meaningful to them, but one that truly reflects the personality, values and wishes of their loved one.

The ceremony can take any form you like. It can be a place of reflection and allow time to share stories, memories and tributes; recall the impact that the deceased had on the lives of those around them, and call to mind the essence of who they were and all that was felt for them.

You can also think beyond a funeral chapel, and instead consider a less traditional setting that held special meaning to your person. This could be somewhere by the beach, a sailing club, a winery, a golf club, a private garden, or the family home. The possibilities are endless. If you’re in need of some ideas, I'm here to help.
